Immerse yourself in travel writing through all of its adventurous forms: from the lyrical to the journalistic, short essay to book-length memoirs, and blogging to other kinds of digital storytelling. We'll focus equally on literary and journalistic travel writing, with additional attention to blogging and digital storytelling.

Through reading, discussing, and writing across the genre, students will have a chance to hone their nonfiction voice as they experiment in writing about travel, or what Paul Theroux called "flight and pursuit in equal parts." We'll also explore the realities of the ever-changing, often mysterious landscape of the travel writing and blogging marketplace for those interested in publishing their work.
