This class is for those who have a body of work and are unsure how to proceed: to refine and shape an episode or event you have been working on into something of short story length, or to pull together drafts of various pieces that might become a book. Whether you have a little or a lot of material, short snippets or chapter-length pieces, we will take what you have, add to it, and begin shaping the disparate parts into a whole.

We'll look closely at your process in this endeavor, drawing on structural ideas from longer published pieces in magazines and literary journals, as well as contemporary book-length memoirs (provided by the teaching artist, on loan). There will be ample opportunity for supportive and constructive feedback from class members and the teaching artist, who will read up to 60 pages of your work. Copy fee $10.00
