Through close reading, vital in-class discussions, and writing exercises, this multigenre writing class will look at identities that speak from, around, within, or between borders. We'll begin each week with a discussion designed to help us connect to our main readings, and engage with personal narratives, articles, short stories, and novel excerpts. We'll delve into questions and discussion points that will guide our interpretation of how identity on the page is shaped by borders. Our discussions and writing exercises will ultimately stimulate and inspire your vision of how identity is constructed by and subjected to borders, and how that affects the literary work you create.
