If you love writing picture books, have manuscripts underway, and are ready to be immersed in the complex world of picture book craft, this master class is for you.

We'll study diverse and award-winning mentor texts for the youngest readers by authors such as by Lauren Castillo, Jacqueline Woodson, Suzy Lee, Joyce Sidman, Matt de la Pena, Margarita Engle, Phyllis Root, Cynthia Leitich Smith, Bao Phi, Javaka Steptoe, and many more. We'll write together from prompts, revise with rigorous exercises, and critique your manuscripts in a supportive large group setting.

Visiting illustrators will speak about their work, and you'll get a chance to ask all your questions about submissions and the publishing process. You'll leave the class with polished manuscripts, a critical approach to reading picture books, knowledge of the industry, and critique skills that will help you run a productive writing group.

Ready to take the next step? The intensive master classes are designed for writers with serious writing goals who are ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work.

Enrollment capped at 12 students. No class 11/21.
