Whether you're a wisecracker, class clown, or corporate accountant, mastering three techniques will help you understand why good jokes work. This class aims to help prose writers—essayists, novelists, and other degenerates—get laugh-track-level responses.

To do so, we'll look at a few examples of humor in fiction and nonfiction, then break down what's going on in each and where the three techniques are working. A few prompts will give you practice in each technique, while an ending writing session will help you bring it all together to start a new story or essay. We will be sharing and commenting on each other's work, but "workshopping" will be kept to a minimum.

Just bring your notebook and $3 for copies.
