Do you want to write? Not sure where to start? Join this class and write a short story in one month.

Students will find and grow their story ideas, workshop their plot outlines, and write their story from beginning to end, using guided writing exercises to explore key story elements like worldbuilding, conflict and motivation, and character development. As we consider these elements, we'll pay special attention to the genre definitions, story tropes, and reader expectations for contemporary and urban fantasy.

There will be in-class writing time, but students may require additional time to write outside of class in order to complete their story.

Please bring a fully charged laptop as well as paper and pen. A $5 copy fee is due to the teacher on the first day of class.

“Loft Happy Hour” classes take place on Fridays, with concurrent happy hour offered at the cafe downstairs from 3–6 p.m. Students can purchase a half price beverage and take it to their Loft classroom.
