For many seniors, writing an focused essay that's "all about you" is challenging. Learn how to choose a topic and represent yourself well; write with a strong, focused narrative voice; and edit for clarity and style.

In the first few days, you will learn the characteristics of a stand-out college essay, look at many specific prompts, read and discuss essays that worked, brainstorm topic ideas, and write a rough draft. The second part of the week, get targeted feedback from the teacher and from each other, make revisions, and edit. We will devote in-class time to writing, and you'll learn helpful strategies for each stage of the process. Leave on Friday with a polished college essay! If you know where you want to apply, bring specific prompts and/or short answer questions to work on in class. Oh..and we won't forget to have a bit of fun each day—it is summer, after all!
