Pitch Practice Session 2
Location: Open Book-Loft Classroom
Day of the Week: Saturday
Time: 9:00 - 5:00 pm
Class Level: Advanced
Genre: Publishing and Career
• Regular: $45.00
Attending the Loft's Pitch conference in April, or just want to practice pitching your novel or creative nonfiction work? Milkweed Editions acquiring editor Joey McGarvey knows what a successful pitch entails and can provide you with feedback that can better position you to pursue publication! Attend a 25-minute one-on-one session with Joey to practice and get targeted feedback on your manuscript pitch or query. After making your pitch (about five minutes), you'll use the remaining time with Joey to discuss your project, assess the publication market, and further hone and polish your pitch.
This is a low-stakes, fun opportunity to sit down face-to-face to make your pitch to an acquiring editor—and then make it even stronger. Participants will be contacted by Joey McGarvey via email once registered for a specific pitch time, which will be scheduled in 25-minute time slots (9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1 p.m.-5 p.m.) on the selected day. Although we'll do our best to accommodate exact time requests, this will work best if participants can remain flexible and open to either a morning or afternoon time slot. Participants should come prepared to give their five-minute pitch at the start of the session.
