What? Learn to lie?! But, of course, this is exactly what you need to do in order to convince your readers you're telling the truth! Whether your story is about firefighters or drama queens, zombies or aliens, you must create verisimilitude, or the appearance of being real or true, to keep your readers engaged.

In this class, we'll explore fiction excerpts before you practice writing fiction, both realistic and "out-of-this-world," using various activities. We'll also practice using details and elaboration in order to make your fiction stronger. Be prepared to share your work with others, so that you can better the art of verisimilitude in your current project or in a new one. This class is best suited for writers who want an introduction to fiction. Bring whatever you use to write, whether it's pencil and paper or a laptop. Copy fee $3.00.
