Loft Inroads Mentoring Award
AWARD IS: CLOSED
The Loft Inroads Mentoring Award for Immigrants and Refugees is now closed. Winners will be notified in April 2013.
The deadline for entry was March 12, 2013 (5 p.m. CST).
The Loft Literary Center’s Inroads programs provides opportunities for emerging writers from marginalized communities to work with established writing mentors from their own communities. This program offers writers the chance to engage in ongoing craft seminars, individual conferences, and public readings, all with an established local mentor sharing their background. In summer of 2013, the focus of Inroads will be emerging writers who identify as immigrants and refugees.
The mentor will select up to eight participants. Those selected will:
participate in weekly creative writing seminars;
have one individual conference with mentor;
read their work publicly with the mentor in the Loft’s performance hall and one location in Saint Paul, to be determined;
receive a $200 stipend;
have their work printed in a chapbook, and
have the unique opportunity to learn more about their writing with other writers who share their background
The Loft’s Inroads Mentorship for Immigrants/Refugees is supported by the Laura Jane Musser Fund, Traveler’s Employee Diversity Committee and United Arts.
