Specific Information About the Novel Writing Project

Here is a syllabus for the upcoming Novel Writing Project.

Cohort Meetings:

Project participants will meet as a class and cohort for two twelve-week terms, one in the winter/spring and one in the fall/winter. The Winter/Spring meetings will take place Wednesdays, February 7 –April 25, 6–9 p.m. The Fall/Winter meetings will take place Wednesdays, September 19–December 12, 6-9 p.m. We will also meet three times during the summer on three Saturdays: June 16, July 14, August 18, 2018, all 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Novel Writing Project Books

Throughout the year, participants will read and learn from several recent novels:

  • Peace Like a River by Leif Enger

  • Once in a Blue Moon Lodge by Lorna Landvik

  • Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger

  • A Brief History of Seven Killings by Marlon James

  • Dear Committee Member by Julie Schumacher

The year long Novel Writing Project will culminate in a final public reading at the Loft on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. Each participant will be able to read a 5-7 minute section of their completed novel.
