The Loft's Teaching Artist in Residency Program
The Loft can come to you!
The Loft brings writing workshops in fiction, poetry, or creative nonfiction to schools and human services organizations. These workshops can be recurring, and can be targeted to youth, teens, or adults. We do this by providing what we call a "teaching artist in residency," which means a Loft teaching artist will develop and teach short- or long-term workshops at your site.
The Loft believes that the art of creative writing can be taught, and that the process of learning this discipline supports the artistic, emotional, and intellectual growth of every individual. Our Teaching Artist in Residency Program seeks to increase the entire community’s access to literary arts, and to inspire a passion for reading and writing.

NOTE: The Loft also offers on-site workshops for businesses, through our Writing at Work program. For libraries, there's the First Pages program, which provides free, 90-minute creative-writing sessions to children and adults at Twin Cities libraries. We also offer the Poetry Out Loud program for Minnesota high schools and students.
