What You’ll Submit: Your manuscript of short or book-length crime fiction. 

What You’ll Get: Erin sees her role as both editor and coach, helping you to bring words on the page closer to the story that lives inside your head. For a full manuscript, you will received detailed comments on the manuscript itself, which will include basic copyediting (spelling, grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, and word choice), and questions or requests for clarification about continuity, tone, point of view, setting, character, and dialogue. You’ll also receive a 7- to 10-page summary letter addressing your manuscript’s overall structural, thematic, and developmental issues and strengths, along with an overview of suggestions for revision, and one phone call or brief meeting to discuss questions or concerns. For short works and queries, you’ll receive a 1–2 page assessment letter.

Pricing:
Loft manuscript critique consists of a flat base price, plus a per word fee. You can enter your word count below and the system will calculate your price. 
  • $150 (base price) + 1.5 cents/word

Turnaround:

  • Prose Up to 70,000 words: 6 weeks

Erin Hart’s award-winning archaeological crime novels, Haunted Ground, Lake Of Sorrows, False Mermaid, and The Book Of Killowen, are set in the mysterious boglands of Ireland and published internationally. In addition to being named to many “Best of the Year” lists, Erin’s novels have won the Friends of American Writers award, and been shortlisted for mystery’s prestigious Anthony and Agatha awards, as well as two Minnesota Book Awards. She has been a  panelist and speaker at writers’ conferences and book festivals in the US, Ireland, and Spain, and has taught memoir writing, arts criticism, Irish crime fiction, and crime writing for entities as diverse as the Loft, Continuing Education at the University of Minnesota, Drury Lane Books, History Theatre, Kitchigami Regional Libraries, and Twin Cities Sisters in Crime.
