Common Good Books in St. Paul will host the launch event for St. Paul author Steve Ford's, Keys to Inspiration, A Teacher’s Guide to a Student-Centered Writing Program, on Sun., March 18 beginning at 2 p.m.

In Keys to Inspiration, which was recently published by education publisher Rowman & Littlefield, the author shares lesson plans divided into three sections. Let’s Write! shows teachers how to introduce students to their natural source of inspiration—emotion—and provides them with complete plans for many unique exercises and small projects. The Major Projects section includes persuasive essay, editorial writing and cartooning, research writing, debate, and oral presentation. Section three, Mechanics, reveals common student mistakes; explains rules of grammar, punctuation, and spelling; and serves as a handy teacher reference. The book finishes with an extensive Appendix of lists—spelling lists, emotion-related lists, powerful verbs, and more, that can be downloaded and used in the classroom.
