Award-winning French “true novel” author Christophe Boltanski to Give Minneapolis Luncheon Talk

Boltanski received the prestigious Prix Femina in 2015 for his novel The Safe House (“La Cache”).

(Minneapolis, MN) Join the Alliance Française at the Woman’s Club of Minneapolis on Friday, October 27th for a luncheon talk with Christophe Boltanski.

Boltanski will discuss his book, The Safe House (originally published as “La Cache” in French). When the Nazis arrived, Étienne Boltanski divorced his wife and departed, never to be seen again during the war. As far as the outside world knew, the Jewish doctor had fled. In fact, he snuck back to hide in a secret crawlspace in the heart of the house. There he lived during the war, using the rooms of the family home as a pretext to recall anecdotes and the atmosphere of this unusual family.

Christophe Boltanski is a powerful new voice in the “true novel” genre. He is the director of the French review XXI. Previously, he has worked for the daily le Progrès Egyptien, and the weekly L’Obs.

French- and English-language books will be available for purchase at the event, and a book-signing will follow the luncheon. The talk will be bilingual, Boltanski speaking in French with English interpretation.

This event will take place at 410 Oak Grove Street in Minneapolis. For directions and more information, visit afmsp.org or http://www.womansclub.org.
