Joey McGarvey is an editor and teaching artist who lives in Saint Paul, where she works with writers and independent publishers to bring grace, polish, and structure to fiction and nonfiction.
Before moving to Minnesota, she spent six years as an editor in the Alfred A. Knopf and Ballantine Bantam Dell imprints of Penguin Random House. She has worked with winners of the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award, New York Times bestselling authors, and other writers of distinguished fiction and nonfiction, including Louis Begley, Raymond Bonner, Kate Buford, Rhonda Garelick, Stephen Hawking, Laura Hillenbrand, Judith Jones, Nicholas D. Kristof, David Liss, Ellen McCarthy, Colum McCann, Susan Orlean, Curtis Sittenfeld, Duncan Wall, and Sheryl WuDunn.
