Ellen Bergman is an elementary school teacher at the Twin Cities Immersion School. Her kids come primarily from the 2nd and 3rd grades and serve as great inspiration for her own perspective and take on creativity. She earned her undergraduate degree in English and German at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN and then promptly set off to live in Germany for one year, which turned into nine. She has studied in and traveled to many countries and is passionate about storytelling. In Hamburg, Germany, she was heavily involved in a theater group where she performed, directed, and produced shows. She has taught courses in Literature and Creative Writing at Hamburg University and has published work in the Firethorne Review. Ellen is the recipient of the Lawrence Owen Prize for poetry.
