Class Play Screenwriting

This class is designed for creative writers with no prior experience, as well as those with writing experience, wishing to break into television writing. We’ll study both short- and long-form screenwriting, including a look at the differences between writing scripted and unscripted (reality TV) shows. Learn in an interactive environment the basics of creating, writing, and presenting your first television script for both drama and/or comedy, including how to take your idea to the next step and create a complete half-hour or one-hour television script.

The class will cover everything you need to write your first script, from idea to character development, style, story arcs, and voice, as well as industry basics, including best ways to find an agent and get your script in front of people who can produce it, how and where scripts are optioned, and true tales of what really goes on in the famed writers’ room.

No class on July 2.

This class takes place in-person, at the Loft at Open Book; we encourage participants to be fully vaccinated and masked in the interest of everyone’s safety. Please see the Loft’s website for the most up to date information about the Loft’s COVID policies.
