About the Loft

Volunteer at the Loft

The volunteer tradition at the Loft dates back to its earliest days. Indeed, the Loft was founded by volunteers and, for many years, largely staffed by volunteers.

The generosity, energy and creativity of Loft volunteers is legendary. Working and performing at Loft events, strategizing and promoting Loft programs, fund raising, providing office support, doing construction and remodeling, staffing the Loft's famous used book sales... volunteers have always been at the very heart of what the Loft does and is.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering is a great way to get involved and become a part of the Loft. Volunteers work closely with Loft staff, author/personalities and the literary community at Loft events, in the Loft's offices, in the Loft's Resource Library and elsewhere. Contact Dara Syrkin at 612-215-2590.

Internships

Structured internships are also available at the Loft. These internships can enhance a participant's resume and may be served in conjunction with a particular field of study. Interns gain a unique hands-on, behind-the-scenes job experience in the nonprofit arts field. For current intenship and position openings, check the Loft Employment page or contact Nancy Gaschott at 612-215-2580.

Work-Study Opportunities

Work-study volunteers are able to defray all or part of their tuition fees for Loft classes by helping provide logistical support for Loft classes. Contact Loft Education  by e-mail or at 612-379-8999.
