Molly Beth Griffin

Molly Beth Griffin is the author of three acclaimed picture books, Ten Beautiful Things, Rhoda's Rock Hunt, and Loon Baby. She has also published an award-winning YA novel, Silhouette of a Sparrow, two poetry chapbooks, and a series of eight beginning readers. Three more picture books are forthcoming, including a fall 2022 title: The Big Leaf Leap. Molly is a graduate of Hamline University's MFA Program in Writing for Children and Young Adults, and was the recipient of the 2014 McKnight Artist Fellowship in Children's Literature.

Molly has been teaching writing for children at the Loft for 12 years. She also critiques manuscripts, mentors emerging writers through the Mirrors & Windows Fellowship, and hosts a monthly Picture Book Salon. For the Stock
There’s a bag in my freezer full of chicken bones and odds and ends of veggies. When we dice a little more onion than we need, we toss the extra in there. We add the nubs of the carrots. Even the stems of herbs. When it’s full, we make stock. And from what? Basically a bag of garbage.
